He got his high school diploma in Aleppo and pursued engineering studies at the University of Alexandria in Egypt, graduating in 1955. Upon returning to Syria, he began working in the Municipality of Aleppo, then at the Euphrates Dam Institute. He then started a private firm with his wife, fellow Architect Myson Maslati.
